December 13 Update

On Friday, the parties spent the day continuing to discuss Comprehensive Package Proposals from both sides. Key issues include wages and staffing and other outstanding proposals. We will resume discussions when we reconvene on Monday, December 16th.

As a reminder, our package includes a Staffing Letter of Agreement that includes, among other things:

RN Staffing Committee

  • Shared governance approach to staffing related concerns.

Staffing Matrix and Guidelines

  • Using current matrix/guidelines for designated in-patient areas.
  • Compliance measured at the start of the shift.
  • Consistent staffing non-compliance subject to mediation and grievance/arbitration. The arbitrator has authority to issue a cease and desist order.

We are committed to reaching an agreement by or before the new year.  To this end, Queen’s proposed to meet today, as well as Monday December 16th, and Tuesday December 17th and HNA agreed.
